Rockers amongst British icons

A BBC viewer vote for the 100 British icons includes several musicians, all of them white men, with the countdown airing in October.

A new list of 100 British Icons, as voted by BBC Viewers, includes a number of music related names – though all of them are men, and they’re all white. Johnny ‘Rotten’ Lydon, Bono, Bob Geldof, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Robbie Williams, David Bowie and John Peel all appear in the Top 100 British icons of all time. As always these lists say more about the voters than anything else, though it should be interesting to see in what order these musical icons appear when the BBC air the countdown in October.
