Ryan Adams inspires Noel Gallagher to revive Wonderwall

Noel Gallagher says Ryan Adams's cover of Wonderwall inspired him to perform the Oasis song live again at a Trade Fair charity gig.

Noel Gallagher has said he was inspired to start performing 'Wonderwall' again after hearing Ryan Adams cover it. The seminal Oasis track has not appeared in the band's live set for years. But Noel sang it at the Trade Fair charity gig on Tuesday night, prefixing his performance by saying: "I never got my head round this song until I went to heard Ryan Adams play and he did an amazing cover of it. So now I'm going to cover one of my own songs in the style of heard Ryan Adams." Word is there's mutual admiration between Adams and Oasis - Ryan told the NME recently: "I love Oasis, I really love Oasis. We're not good friends, but Noel and have hung out two or three times. They're the best band in the world."
