Sanctuary Records will next month release two albums to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Sugar Hill records, the label that helped unleash hip hop onto the wider world.
First up is 'The Best Of Grandmaster Flash and Sugar Hill' - a definitive greatest hits album of Sugar Hill Records, and probably their most important artist, Grandmaster Flash. The album includes 'Rappers Delight', 'The Message', 'White Lines' and 'Step Off', plus a special bonus CD mixed by Prime Cuts from the Scratch Perverts.
The second release - 'The Message - The Story Of Sugar Hill Records' - is a four CD collection including previously unreleased material, extensive sleeve notes and interviews with the Robinsons and Grandmaster Flash.
