Scottish venue pulls out of Hogmanay music fest

The Royal Highland Centre has terminated its contract with promoters U4Ria Promotions for the Highland Gathering New Year's Eve event, after a financial dispute.

Talking of the Scottish capital, the venue due to host a special music fest alongside Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations has announced it has terminated its contract with the events promoters. Called The Highland Gathering the event was set to feature an eclectic mix of music including Supergrass, Felix Da Housecat, The Levellers, Razorlight and DJs Seb Fontaine, Dave Pearce and Erick Morillo. It was being staged at the Royal Highland Centre just outside Edinburgh.

However, following reports that one of the co-promoters of the event had pulled out over a financial dispute, the owners of the Royal Highland Centre this morning told reporters: "We regret to announce the termination by default of its contractual agreement with organisers U4Ria Promotions Ltd to host the Highland Gathering event. The event, which was to feature chart-topping music and live bands, was scheduled for New Year's Eve. The Royal Highland Centre is disappointed that the event will not go ahead but this is due to circumstances totally outwith its control and despite repeated efforts to avoid withdrawal of the venue's facilities."

There is now word yet on whether U4Ria Promotions plan to find an alternative venue for the event - more when we get it.
