Shortlist compilation album planned

US label Razor & Tie will release a compilation of Shortlist Music Prize nominees on 2 November, two weeks before the award ceremony in LA on 15 November.

US label Razor & Tie will release a compilation album to coincide with this year's Shortlist Music Prize (the US equivalent of the Mercury Music Prize - but you knew that didn't ya). The album will feature tracks from each of the ten artists who are on the 'shortlist' for the final award, plus tracks from an additional five artists who featured on the preliminary 'long list' of albums - Muse, Jem, Secret Machines, Cafe Tacuba and Ryan Adams.

Called 'MTV2 Presents: 2004 Shortlist Music Prize Nominees', the album will be released on 2 Nov, two weeks before the overall award is presented at a ceremony in LA on 15 Nov.

As previously reported, artists on this year's shortlist are: Air, Dizzee Rascal, Franz Ferdinand, Ghostface Killah, The Killers, Loretta Lynn, Nellie McKay, the Streets, TV On The Radio and Wilco.
