At CMU we've been writing about the music business every day since 21 Jun 2002. Our daily newsletter CMU Daily goes out to around 25,000 people each day, and our new weekly newsletter CMU Digest provides a concise overview of the most important stories from the last seven days.

CMU Daily includes two or three stories each day that we think are particularly important, as well as our 'One Liners' section - a rapid overview of deals, appointments and a round-up of news covering legal, streaming, digital, industry events, artist news and much more. We're a tiny team, and a tiny company; unlike a lot of trade media in the music business, we're not part of a giant publishing company with millions of dollars of backing. In September 2023 we relaunched the CMU website bringing together resources from several existing websites, to make it easier for people to find what they need.

Over the next few months we're going to be rolling out some new premium content from CMU, pulling together data, insight and industry expertise to help people keep ahead of current trends and innovations in the global music business.

Our core content from CMU Daily - key happenings from the music business - will always be free, and as time goes on we will be creating additional valuable content, some of which will be available for free, and some of which will be included in our premium paid memberships.
