Snap of the day: Frightened Rabbit

Glaswegian band Frightened Rabbit have a new album, 'The Midnight Organ Fight', and the writer praises standout track 'The Modern Leper', streamed on their MySpace.

Glaswegian band Frightened Rabbit have a new album out and it's brilliant, honest. Actually, to be completely honest, I've only heard the tracks on their MySpace so I can confidently say that at least six tracks of Frightened Rabbit's new record, 'The Midnight Organ Fight', are brilliant. Standout track of six 'The Modern Leper' is, in fact, probably their best work yet, aping Biffy Clyro at the beginning with repetitive downpicking of the guitar, building with pounding drums before the "aaahs" layer the background of the song and it flows into a certifiably Scottish hoe-down. Soul raising and abrasive, it's the very best kind of indie rock, yet full of the kind of macabre humour that fans of Tom Waits et al will appreciate - see "I am ill but I'm not dead, and I don't know which of those I'd prefer. Because that limb which I have lost was the only thing holding me up". Click the link below for your initial investigations.
