Snow Patrol make T In The Park, despite being arrested

Snow Patrol played T In The Park despite keyboardist Tom Simpson being arrested at RAF Northolt over a failed Glasgow court appearance.

Snow Patrol successfully fulfilled their headline commitments at the mighty T In The Park this weekend, even though keyboard player Tom Simpson was in police custody on Saturday afternoon after being arrested in connection with a failed court appearance in Glasgow relating to some drugs charge or another. Simpson was stopped by police at RAF Northolt in Middlesex as he and his bandmates were running to get from their set at Live Earth over to Ireland's Oxegen festival. Officers only let him go when he agreed to show up at the Glasgow court on Tuesday. I hope for all our sakes he now does show up.

Elsewhere in T In The Park news, and Scottish festival goers benefited from what was actually quite a nice weekend weather wise, certainly when compared with the recent weeks. Heavy rainfall in the run up to the festival made some of the festival site a little muddy - the car parks were especially swamp like - but overall, most people enjoyed a relatively dry time. T chief Geoff Ellis told reporters yesterday: "We've got glorious sunshine today and we had fantastic sunshine yesterday. Obviously there were problems with the car parks on Friday due to the weather, but most people had got in by then".

For those that like to keep count of these things, 46 people were arrested over the first two days of the festival, but Ch Supt Matt Hamilton of the Tayside Police was happy to put that into perspective: "Encouragingly arrest figures on site at T In The Park are much lower than a town centre on a Saturday night. The numbers are incredibly low considering the amount of people on site and we're happy with the way things are going".

As has become the tradition, T organisers have announced that early bird tickets for their 2008 event, the fifteenth T In The Park, will go on sale tomorrow, 10 Jul. Expect a quick sell out.
