LA attorney Marvin Mitchelson, a close friend of Phil Spector, has said the legendary producer will contend the shooting death of an actress at his suburban mansion last week was accidental. While admitting he had not actually spoken to Spector himself, he told reporters: "I believe his defense will be that this was a tragic accident. I've spoken with various individuals connected with the case, and I'm 100 percent certain it's not a homicide."
Sandi Gibbons, a spokesperson for the local district attorney's office said that the Sheriff's investigators had not yet presented a case: "We haven't seen any evidence yet, so we can't comment,” she said, adding that they were expecting a case to be presented sometime before Spector's 3 Mar hearing
LA County Sheriff's Lt Dan Rosenberg said his department has decided to make no comments about what investigators have discovered. "Our role is to complete a very comprehensive, unbiased investigation. We know that he will be going to trial, and we don't want to taint the jury pool. We want to give Mr. Spector the opportunity to have a fair trial."
Another unnamed friend of Spector has told local media that Clarkson’s murdered body was found slumped in an antique chair in the foyer of Spector's home - she had been shot in the face by a gun that was more than likely owned by Spector.
