More on the Phil Spector story. Latest reports say that Spector met Lana Clarkson, the actress he is accused of murdering, just hours before she was shot. She met Spector while working at the House of Blues nightclub on LA’s Sunset Strip, and after work went back to Spector’s house near by. Police found Clarkson’s body after Spector’s driver called them after hearing gunshots in the house.
Spector was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder but was freed after posting $1 million bail. Police yesterday obtained a search warrant and spent the day combing his ten bedroom mansion for evidence. Meanwhile a spokesman for the LA County Coroner's Office confirmed an autopsy was being conducted on Clarkson’s body and that the examination is expected to reveal whether she had been under the influence of alcohol or drugs, among other details.
There have been no official statements from either the police or Spector, however LA attorney Marvin Mitchelson, a close friend of the producer, told reporters: "This is a sweet man and there's no way he could do this sort of crime. It's true he's a hard-driving guy but Phil wouldn't hurt a fly. I've never seen him disrespect a woman. He's just not someone who is going to attack anyone."
