Given all the speculation recently regarding the health of Apple boss Steve Jobs (which is concerning city types in particular, who reckon the computer firm's success is directly linked to Jobs being in the top job), people were quick to notice when Bloomberg accidentally published an obituary for the IT and entertainment entrepreneur this week. The article was incomplete so it was pretty obvious it had been posted by mistake, and Bloomberg quickly took it down, but not before other websites had noticed and grabbed the mistaken obit for us all to see.
The obit began: "Steve Jobs, who helped make personal computers as easy to use as telephones, changed the way animated films are made, persuaded consumers to tune into digital music and refashioned the mobile phone, has ____________. He was ____".
Having realised their mistake, and that it had been noted on the net, Bloomberg quickly issued a statement reading: "An incomplete story referencing Apple Inc was inadvertently published by Bloomberg News at 4:27 p.m. New York time today. The item was never meant for publication and has been retracted".
Falsely reporting someone's death, ha, you'd never catch us doing that. Angus Young, by the way, is still alive. I just checked.
