DJ Steve Lawler has announced details of a new digital record label which will launch in January. Called Viva Music, the new venture will replace Lawler's existing physical release labels - Harlem Records, Harlem Trax and Harlem Electric. Word is he is currently in talks with two major online organisations about getting involved in the project.
On the new label, Lawler told CMU: "This is the way forward for me as a record label. Times are changing so quickly, and I want to start 2006 by leading the way with how people receive and enjoy the music I release. I am excited by the proposition of only being online, which is where a lot of my music buying audience tend to live. The technology is now good enough for the sound quality to work for DJs, and I see this as a step forward to position the label at the forefront of not just music but also technology."
The Viva name comes from the new club Lawler launched at Space in Ibiza back in July. He plans to position all his future projects under the Viva banner - with his regular night at London club The End renamed as Viva Harlem Nights.
