Super Furry Animals on their Paul McCartney collaborations

Super Furry Animals tell Undercover how a chance meeting led Paul McCartney to let them remix Beatles masters and to recreate vegetable munching on their album.

The Super Furry Animals have been talking to Aussie website Undercover about their recent collaborations with Paul McCartney. Apparantly their relationship with the band began when keyboard player Cian ran into Macca at an industry bash. "After a few drinks Cian went up to Sir Paul McCartney and persuaded him to let us remix The Beatles" SFA frontman Gruff Rhyss says. "He didn't remember much about it but a few weeks later a few boxes of Beatles masters turned up at out office so we made a 20 minute piece of music. It was released as the Liverpool Sound Collage".

Once the connection was made the SFA Macca relationship got even more bizarre: "Seeing we had access to Paul McCartney we asked him to return the favour for our last album. We wanted him to recreate vegetable munching, which he did on the song 'Vegetables' by the Beach Boys. We got him in to chew some carrots and some celery. It was on our last album 'Rings Around The World' on the track 'Receptacle for the Respectable'".
