T in the Park 2006 early bird tickets go on sale

Organisers Big Day Out are selling 20,000 early bird tickets for T in the Park 2006 at 2005 prices, with demand expected to be high as there is no Glastonbury in 2006.

From what we hear both T in the Park and Ireland's Oxegen Festival rocked this weekend - so well done them. But surely it's T in the Park 2006 that everyone is really focused on? Well, it's what the festival's organisers are focused on anyway, because before 2005's festival was over, details of ticket sales for 2006 had already been announced. Festival promoters Big Day Out revealed yesterday morning that 20,000 tickets for T in the Park 2006 would go on sale from tomorrow. The 'early bird' tickets, to be sold at 2005 prices, will be available until Sunday 31 July, or while stocks last.

It is the second year Big Day Out have operated the early bird ticket system - last year selling out a third of this year's tickets within a month of the 2004 event. The rest of the tickets for T in the Park 2005 then sold out in just four days when they went on sale earlier this year. Following another successful event this weekend, demand for tickets next year is expected to be even higher because there will be no Glastonbury Festival in 2006.

Announcing the launch of the 2006 festival during the 2005 event, Big Day Out boss Geoff Ellis told reporters: "Any fans that missed out on this year's event can be first on the phone to make sure they are at next year's festival, and with tickets still at this year's prices, there's no excuse not to! Hopefully, memories of this year's T in the Park and another year of fantastic gigs will be enough to keep music fans going until T2006. Don't miss out on next summer's biggest event, we're only putting 20,000 on sale at the moment so buy your tickets now!"
