The organisers of The Big Chill have made their first announcement regarding the line up for this year's event, which takes place at the Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Herefordshire from 3-5 Aug. As usual, I'd be going if August weren't an infernally busy month for me. And this year August might be even busier than usual.
Anyway, for those of you not in the know, The Big Chill, now in its twelfth year, is a huge cultural festival which seeks to promote emerging talent from the worlds of music, art, digital media, comedy and theatre. And when it comes to the music, there's all sorts of stuff - genres as diverse as Norwegian disco, funk, Bazumbo trance, Balkan beats, drum'n'bass and beatboxing - and set from the likes of VJ Fritz Fitzke, Orbital man Paul Hartnoll, The Skatalites, Cymande, Konono No1, Ojos De Brujo, Seasick Steve, Sheila Chandra, Jose Padilla, Tunng, The Blockheads, and London Community Gospel Choir. Oh, and the press release promises that Shlomo will perform a full show featuring the world's first beatbox choir. A beabox choir? Cool.
