The Fratellis say no to Beckham gig

The Fratellis have turned down the chance to record an official song for David Beckham's first LA Galaxy match, saying it would cost them self-respect.

The Fratellis have turned down the opportunity to record the 'official song' for David Beckham's first match as an LA Galaxy player. And good on them. It was proposed they record a cover version of The Beatle's 'Hello Goodbye' for the, erm, historic occasion but, frontman Jon Fratelli explains: "We were like, 'No fucking way'. It would have got us noticed, of course, but we'd have lost our self-respect. We've turned down a huge list of ridiculous things like that. We're not a bunch of travelling salesmen. If we don't get successful on our own terms then we won't do it at all".
