The Strokes were attacked in London

Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr told Giant magazine that English audiences often tried to fight the band when they first toured the UK.

The Strokes' Albert Hammond Jr says that English people were always trying to beat the band up when they first came to the UK to promote debut LP 'Is This It'. English people? Kicking off? Some mistake, surely?

Apparently not. The guitarist told Giant magazine: "When we first came out, there were a lot of people, especially in England, who wanted to fight us. We had to get security because people would try to start serious fights, like bottle us in the head. There was a fight that broke out once. Nikolai [Fraiture] and Fab [Moretti] were getting into a car and this guy hit Nikolai in the head with a bottle. The two of them definitely stuck together. The security guards were like, 'What?!'"
