The Yardbirds return to roost

The Yardbirds are recording their first album in decades, with three guest guitarists including Queen's Brian May, and founding member Jim McCarty says it should be out by March 2003.

It was coincidence that the CMU Daily question a few days ago concerned Jeff Beck and the Yardbirds, but now we hear that the old-hands are regrouping. The band who once featured lead guitarist Eric Clapton who was replaced by the aforementioned Jeff Beck who was then replaced by Jimmy Page, are recording their first album in decades with three guest guitarists, one of whom is Queen's Brian May. At his website, founding member Jim McCarty says "the new Yardbirds recording is now 80% finished. We have some more sessions to do in London and it will hopefully be out by March 2003."
