What were the biggest wins for EMEE in 2023?

Last year EMEE grew considerably, gaining not only four new members, but also embarking on our most ambitious trade missions yet, covering the music sectors in Italy, Latvia, Mexico and India.

We published two major reports on developing music export in Europe, including one that gives an in depth overview of the activity and funding of our members.

Our biggest win was launching the LIVEMX programme alongside LiveDMA and Inova+. This project will bring €4 million to music export, live venues and digital dissemination over the next year and we can't wait to see what innovative projects are supported as part of it.

What are the biggest challenges for your members?

Our members vary hugely in size and scale, this means there are few common challenges, however the security of funding that enables long-term development is an issue for many.

Greening of the industry, especially around export, and the rising cost of international travel and showcasing, are a continuous discussion among our members and beyond.

What will be key projects for EMEE in the year ahead?

Our LIVEMX project will really come to life this year, and we will start seeing the projects that are being supported take off.

We are excited for more networking missions for our members, which include LA, Japan, Iceland and Austria. To support these missions we'll be producing in depth market studies for more new countries, and these will be publicly available alongside the ones published in 2023 on our resource centre.

We will also see a lot more activity from a brilliant project we're participating in called Better Live, which is about sustainable touring and reducing carbon footprint.
