Thom Yorke urges protest against Star Wars

Thom Yorke has urged Radiohead fans to join a protest at Fylingdales on 25 September against the US missile defence programme, where he is a guest speaker.

And just when the DVD had been released too - spoil sport. No, Thom Yorke is urging Radiohead fans to join him in a protest against that other Star Wars, George Bush' s defence programme that has appeared back on the agenda in recent months, even though it always seem an unfeasible proposition when first proposed back in the Reagan era.

In a posting on the band's message board, Yorke told fans about the protest taking place at Fylingdales base on Saturday (25 Sep) at which he is a guest speaker. He wrote: "I hope you all are well. It's Saturday. I need to go to bed. I'm planning a trip to Fylingdales; anybody want to come? It's a nice place. They have big domes and stuff. It's up north and I'm down south. Bring a sandwich. I think they are planning world domination there or something. It's the 25th. That's also a Saturday. What should I say. I don't want to be rude. But they are about to announce Star Wars."

Other speakers at the protest include 'Almost Famous' star Kate Hudson. For more information on the anti-Star Wars campaign go to http://www.cfnduk.org.
