Ticketmaster job cuts

Ticketmaster is cutting 300 jobs, about 5% of its workforce, in a restructuring to save around $35 million, which it attributes mainly to acquisition consolidation.

Staying with tricky economic times, back to the job cuts file I'm afraid. Ticketmaster have announced they are cutting 300 jobs as part of a restructuring programme designed to save a reported $35 million in operating costs.

A spokesman for the company stressed that the cuts, which will affect about 5% of the company's workforce, are more the result of consolidation after a number of recent acquisitions, in particular of TicketsNow and Paciolan, rather than as a response to either the credit crunch or the fact the company will next year lose its Live Nation contract.

As previously reported, Live Nation has not renewed its ticketing relationship with Ticketmaster, instead setting up its own ticketing company.
