Tom Jones criticises Burberry plans to close Rhondda factory

Tom Jones has backed a campaign against Burberry's plans to close its Treorchy factory in the Rhondda valley and move production to China.

Welsh business news now, and Tom Jones has added his voice to a campaign to stop Burberry from closing down its manufacturing plant in South Wales' Rhondda valley. Jones told reporters this weekend that: "As a local boy, I know how important this factory has been to the community in the Rhondda. I therefore urge the Burberry management to withdraw their plans to close their Treorchy factory".

Local politicians have also criticised plans by Burberry to move operations from the small Rhonda town of Treorchy to China, arguing that a company that trades on its "by appointment to the Queen" warrant shouldn't be able to axe one of its British manufacturing sites in this way.
