Tupac statue vandal charged

A man who put a noose on a statue of Tupac Shakur has been charged with second degree criminal damage, though not with a hate crime.

A man arrested for putting a noose on a statue of the late Tupac Shakur outside the Tupac Amaru Shakur Centre For The Arts in DeKalb County, Georgia, has been charged with second degree criminal damage. However Kenneth Anthony Wilson, himself of African-American descent, will not be charged with a hate crime because police say there is no evidence his act of vandalism was racially motivated. It had been thought the noose incident may be a hate crime because it followed cases of racist graffiti around the Centre.
