UKRD expected to hand back second FM licence

Independent radio company UKRD is reportedly handing back its Fen Radio FM licence to OfCom, the second time it has done so after returning its Stroud licence in 2006.

Independent radio company UKRD will reportedly hand back one of its FM licences to media regulator OfCom, the second time it's done such a thing, which was previously unheard of. When closing down its local radio service in Stroud in 2006, it said it was handing the licence back to OfCom, rather than trying to sell it, in protest, because they said OfCom rules were making it impossible for smaller independent radio stations to compete. Whether the reported handing back of the licence for the Cambridgeshire based Fen Radio station is also part of a protest I'm not sure.
