Unity Festival line up grows

The free Unity Festival on 6 June adds David Gray, Billy Bragg and Mick Jones's Carbon Silicon to its line-up, alongside headliners The Libertines.

More details on the very excellent sounding Love Music Hate Racism Unity Festival, due to take place on 6 Jun from midday to 8pm in Finsbury Park. Joining the previously reported headliners, The Libertines, will be, among others, David Gray, The Stands, Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Goldie Lookin' Chains, Billy Bragg and Mick Jones' new band Carbon Silicon.

Although donations will be welcomed, the event is free and is designed to encourage people to unite against moves by the BNP to win votes in up coming local and European elections. The event will highlight, in particular, the Unite Against Fascism's campaign in North West England where BNP leader Nick Griffin (whose stated aim is "an all-white society") is standing for the local European Parliament seat. Campaigners are concerned that with the PR voting systems that apply in the Euro elections, coupled with a low turnout, the BNP need poll only 10% in the Euro seat to get elected and are therefore encouraging as many people as possible to join their campaign.
