US venue sues Tori Amos over cancelled gig deposit

Michigan venue Interlochen Center for the Arts is suing Tori Amos for a $40,000 deposit after a last-minute gig cancellation over catering, guest lists and awareness groups.

A US venue is suing Tori Amos for a deposit it paid for a gig that never happened. The Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan paid Amos $40,000 in advance for a gig due to take place last month. But the gig was cancelled at the last minute after the venue and Amos' management couldn't agree on catering spend, guest list and the inclusion of three 'awareness groups' on site.

Amos' management – California based Creative Artists Agency – are likely to claim the deposit payment is due because technically the venue cancelled the gig. However the venue claim they only decided to cancel after CAA failed to respond to a last minute revised contract.

CAA have not as yet commented on the lawsuit.
