V Festival update

Robyn has been added to V Festival, replacing Bright Eyes who dropped out through illness, and Primal Scream's Mani previews new songs.

What with the furore surrounding Amy Winehouse's 'will she play, won't she play' issues in the last week, it seems I've overlooked the addition of Swedish chart-topper (that'd be the UK chart) Robyn to the V Festival line-up. Unfortunately, for what they've gained in the one time The Knife collaborator, they've lost in American troubadour Bright Eyes, who has dropped out due to illness. The singer-songwriter has been replaced by guitar maestros Rodrigo y Gabriela.

In other V news, Primal Scream's Mani has been chatting to the NME about the new songs that they're planning to debut at this weekend's V Festival. Claiming that they're so new that they haven't even got around to naming them, Mani said: "To be honest we all stare at each other while we're playing them - we haven't learned them that well yet. It's a suck it and see situation!" The band are headlining the JJB Arena at both the Staffordshire and Chelmsford legs of the Festival.
