Violens

Violens, one of MGMT's tour support acts, are tipped for their 60s-referencing stoner rock, with 'Violent Sensation Descends' the highlight.

Following the tip of A Place To Bury Strangers yesterday, here's the second of MGMT's tour support bands, the not quite as loud but still pretty ace Violens. Producers of 60s referencing stoner rock, my personal favourite track is the sun-blessed 'Violent Sensation Descends', a nugget of woozy vocals and soothing organ sounds. Already being bracketed in with The Zombies and their ilk, there are also nods to contemporary artists like The Shins, though Violens' sound is closer to 'The Wire' soundtrack than 'The OC'. Head to their MySpace below to investigate.
