Virgin revamp breakfast show again

Virgin Radio moves Daryl Denham to drivetime and gives the breakfast show to Pete Mitchell and Geoff Lloyd, the fourth presenting team in around eighteen months.

Virgin Radio has another presenting team for its flagship breakfast show, the fourth set of presenters in just over eighteen months. Current host Daryl Denham was catapulted to the key show just weeks after joining the station following the dramatic departure of Steve Penk (who in turn took over after the dramatic sacking of former station boss Chris Evans). Denham has struggled in the breakfast ratings war, so the station are shifting him to drivetime. Current drive presenters Pete Mitchell and Geoff Lloyd will get the breakfast shift.

Talking about the changes programme controller Paul Jackson told the Media Guardian: "As with any team, you are always trying to find the perfect formation and this move offers the listener something a bit different. Drivetime seems to be the perfect home for Daryl's style of show and Pete and Geoff have gone from strength to strength across the last year."

Denham himself, publicly at least, supported the move, saying: "I see this as a great opportunity to tackle something new and also get a lie in... I leave breakfast in safe hands with Pete and Geoff and am thrilled to be continuing at the best radio station in the land."
