Warner Music UK chairman stands down

Warner Music UK chairman Nick Phillips is stepping down to pursue new opportunities, with the UK label heads now reporting to John Reid.

Warner Music UK chairman Nick Phillips is standing down to "pursue new opportunities". Here's what Warner Music International's chairman and CEO Patrick Vien had to say about the news: "Under Nick Phillips' leadership, Warner Music UK achieved significant milestones through a period of growth and transformation. We respect his decision to pursue new opportunities and wish him all best in his future endeavours. Nick leaves in place a strong team of UK label heads that ensures our continued success in an evolving business". Phillips won't be replaced as such, with the major's UK label heads now reporting to WMI's vice-chair John Reid. Some reckon he isn't being replaced because, should a Warner EMI merger take place, a new combined UK management team would be quickly set up above both majors' UK label divisions and that would be headed by EMI Music UK chief Tony Wadsworth, who is likely to survive any post-Warner takeover board level cull at EMI.
