As you no doubt saw in Friday's c'leb reports, Amy Winehouse was arrested in Norway and held overnight on Thursday night for cannabis possession. She was released on Friday morning after paying a 500 euro fine.
Winehouse, husband Blake Fielder-Civil and a third person were arrested at a hotel in the Norwegian city of Bergen after being found in possession of seven grammes of the drug. However, the singer quickly worked her way through the country's legal system, meaning she was free to perform gigs in Bergen and Norway capital Oslo this weekend.
Norwegian prosecutor Lars Morten Lothe told the Associated Press: "She's paid the fine, so this thing is over for us now". A spokesman for the singer, meanwhile, told reporters: "She was released without charge. The show in Bergen is going ahead as planned".
In the whole scheme of things, given all the recent stories of Winehouse's recent druggy antics, seven grammes of cannabis is hardly a story, even though the person who tipped off the police about the possession possibly wanted it to be. Though, that said, some are speculating that the arrest might cause problems the next time Winehouse tries to get a US visa, American authorities getting awkward over anything nearing a drugs charge. Whether that proves to be true remains to be seen.
