Women are bigger downloaders than men

TuneTribe research, backed by the BPI Music Buyers Survey, suggests women now account for 50.9% of the digital music download market.

Staying with digital music type shenanigans, and independent download platform TuneTribe has published some research that suggests that downloading music is no longer a male dominated pastime. Their research, back up by the BPI Music Buyers Survey, reckons that women are actually buying more digital music than blokes, though only just - 50.9% of the market share.

TuneTribe reckon that their service is more female friendly, hence the importance of the statistic. TuneTribe COO Ronnie Traynor explains: "We recognise that most [download] sites are geared towards men and forget that women are increasingly becoming high users in the market place. At TuneTribe we ensure that we speak to our audience in a relevant way and embrace the fact that women are music lovers too".
