Word and Mixmag recruit new digital editor

Development Hell has appointed Fraser Lewry, founder of kittenwar.com, as Digital Editor to lead the online relaunch of The Word and Mixmag.

Development Hell has appointed Fraser Lewry, founder of cult site kittenwar.com and a former Xfm-er and The Cure roadie, as their Digital Editor, a role which will see him leading the relaunch of the online presence of the indie media firm's two main titles, The Word and Mixmag.

Confirming the appointment, Development Hell Editorial Director David Hepworth said that they wanted someone who "lives and breathes the interest" to lead their online operations, someone who can think digital rather then just trying to turn existing print outputs into online outputs. That is to say someone who can edit a site that hosts the opinions of many personalities, and isn't too constricted by a corporate brand. Hepworth: "We've always felt that in the battle between the corporates on the one hand and the nutters in bedrooms on the other, the latter would prevail. Hence we've hired our own nutter".
