Wyclef launches clothes range in US

Wyclef Jean has launched his Refugee By DIA Clothing range in America, which has already sold in Europe and promotes cultural awareness.

Former(?) Fugee Wyclef Jean has launched his new clothing range in America. 'Refugee By DIA Clothing' has already proved successful in Europe, and apparently combines French, Italian and American styles. Allhiphop.com reports that Wyclef hopes that his clothes will inspire and promote unity and cultural awareness in the US, (which is a pretty tall order for the average textile, in my opinion) and takes the statement "We Are All Refugees" as its mantra.

Anyway, Wyclef has commented on the fashion line: "People buy Sean John because it's owned by Puffy. People buy Avirex because it's endorsed by Method Man. People will probably buy my line because it's owned by me, but they will walk away with more. 'We are all Refugees' means that everyone is a refugee. Everyone in the United States is a refugee to some degree. No one's culture originated here. In the past either our parents or ancestors left their homelands to come here for various reasons. People die because they are refugees. People need to remember that."

Wyclef is a long time activist in his native Haiti, and hopes to use DIA Clothing as part of his quest to inform and interest people in their cultural heritage.
