Xfm launches MySpace-style upload service for unsigned bands

Xfm is launching Uploaded, a MySpace-style site where unsigned bands can post tracks, with the best picks considered for on-air exposure.

Xfm is launching a MySpace style music site that will allow unsigned bands to upload tracks and photos and stuff. The new platform, to be called Uploaded, will link in the station's cross-network Music:Response strand, which has just got itself a new sponsor in the shape of Stolichnaya Vodka.

The plan is that Xfm will keep an eye on music uploaded to the unsigned platform and pick out the best for on air exposure. Here's what the station's music chief Mike Walsh says: "We have a long history of helping to break new bands and giving them their first air play and this will enable us to step it up a gear and also get important feedback from our listeners about who is exciting them at any given moment".
