YouTube goes live this weekend

YouTube will webcast its first live streaming event from San Francisco at the weekend, featuring artists including Soulja Boy, Katy Perry, Will.i.am and Akon.

YouTube is going live this weekend, though I'm not sure Philip Schofield or Sarah Green are involved. The video sharing platform will stage it's first ever live streaming event, webcasting its own big bash from San Francisco where a whole load of artists known for their YouTube fanbase will perform, including Soulja Boy, Katy Perry, Will.i.am and Akon. And I ought to mention the lovely Spito Band will be playing because they just emailed me to tell me. This being a live stream from the East Coast of America means it will all happen in the middle of the night (overnight Saturday/Sunday), but I'm assuming highlights will be available once we all wake up on Sunday morning. Which kind of defeats the point of the live stream thing, though American readers and insomniacs will be able to experience that bit. More info on all this is available at www.youtube.com/live
