YouTube to add music sell-through

YouTube plans to add sell-through for music, films, TV, books, games and gig tickets, with Amazon and iTunes providing the digital content and YouTube taking a revenue share.

YouTube is planning on adding music sell-through into the mix in a bid to generate more revenues from its market-leader video sharing platform. Music is just one of the things the Google owned video site will start to sell-through, with films, TV shows, books, games and gig tickets also being flagged up when thematically linked to a video streaming on the website. Digital content sell-through will be provided by both Amazon and iTunes, users will be able to choose which service they opt for. In both cases YouTube will get a share of any revenue created.
