Enrique Iglesias, Alan Jackson, Gloria Estefan, Aretha Franklin, and Al Green are among the confirmed artists set to appear at a Concert For America which will be broadcast by NBC on 11 Sep. Josh Groban, Renee Fleming, Placido Domingo, and the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by music director Leonard Slatkin will also appear. The event will actually be recorded on 9 Sep at John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. It will be hosted by NBC newsman Tom Brokaw with First Lady Laura Bush in attendance. "In addition to honoring the victims and heroes of Sept 11, the special will also use words and music to reflect on the year that has followed since the terrorist attacks, and the spirit of unity that has emerged across the country," an NBC statement said. "Featuring the voices of everyday people, as well as famous figures past and present, the special will remember lives lost, and celebrate the resiliency of the American spirit." Much of the audience will be by invitation only, though some tickets may be available for the public closer to the date.
