Emerging from the creative confluence of Dublin, Belfast and London, M(h)aol (pronounced ā€˜maleā€™) donā€™t just make post punk they wield it.

Their 2023 debut album ā€˜Attachment Stylesā€™ tackled intimacy, queerness and gendered violence with a cool almost floating vocal force, while their wiry, noise-drenched sound recalled the biting minimalism of early Savages or Big Joanie.

Across their work, theyā€™ve never been afraid to call things as they are. That same directness fuels their new single, ā€˜DM:AMā€™, a blistering one-take shot at the entitled men who clog womenā€™s inboxes with unsolicited and then aggressive messages.

Written and recorded in a single day, the track pulses with livewire energy - its scraping guitar lines and jagged rhythms collapsing into a claustrophobic churn as the band spit back at their subject matter.

ā€œThereā€™s a cycle to these thingsā€, they explain. ā€œFirst, they want your attention, then they want your silence. We wanted to capture that feeling - the relentless pressure, the expectation, and then the rage when they donā€™t get what they wantā€.
