Audiogalaxy settles copyright case

Audiogalaxy has settled with the major labels in the US before the case reached court, agreeing to remove unlicensed tracks and pay a substantial sum to affected labels and publishers.

Audiogalaxy, the music-swapping website offering unreleased Eminem and Oasis tracks has been forced to settle with the major labels in the US before their case reached court. The site has been forced to remove all unlicensed tracks and pay a "substantial sum" to affected labels and publishers. The Recording Industry Association of America and the US based National Music Publishers Association reached the out of court settlement with Audiogalaxy earlier this week. The agreement is similar to one the RIAA made with Napster last year. It proved disastrous for Napster who found their subscribers deserted them once they went legitimate.
