Bids in for Edinburgh licence

Up to a dozen bids are expected for the new Edinburgh radio licence by the deadline, with Celador leading a consortium and EMAP bidding with Castle FM.

Everyone wants to get on the air in Edinburgh. Up to a dozen bids are expected to be made for the new Edinburgh radio licence by the time the deadline passes tomorrow. All the usual suspects bar the Capital Group are bidding - GWR, EMAP, Virgin Radio, Guardian Media Group, Scottish Radio Holdings. Perhaps more interesting are a consortium being led by Who Wants to be a Millionaire? programme-maker Celador - though EMAP's bid is a joint effort with a local consortium called Castle FM which could also be of interest. More when we get it.
