BMG announce global marketing head

BMG has appointed Tim Prescott, currently marketing and A&R VP in Asia Pacific, to head its new global marketing team as part of wider restructuring.

BMG’s restructure in its global operations continued on Friday with the announcement Tim Prescott, currently VP of Marketing and A&R for BMG in Asia Pacific, will head up the group's new global marketing team, overseeing worldwide marketing strategies. He will sit on a global board alongside CEO Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, COO Michael Smellie and RCA boss Clive Davis.

Announcing the appointment Smellie told reporters: "We want an organisation built on record labels with global reach. The labels and our creative executives will be able to work even more closely with artists while being able to rely on powerful and effective global marketing capabilities."

As previously reported BMG is restructuring the upper end of its hierarchy to make it more globally focused. Still no word on if and how these changes will impact on its operations in individual countries.
