BMG restructures in US after J Records takeover

BMG has begun restructuring in the US after fully taking over J Records and appointing its founder Clive Davies to head Arista, with about 50 jobs expected to go.

Restructuring has begun in BMG in the US following the complete takeover of imprint J Records, and the appointment of J Records founder Clive Davies to head of Arista. For restructuring, read downsizing - "Staff reductions at BMG are part of our effort to eliminate duplicate positions and responsibilities among certain areas at BMG and J," the company said in a statement yesterday. "The streamlining is part of an integration of the two labels - but these changes won't affect the independent, creative integrity of the two labels.” About 50 jobs are expected to go across BMG’s RCA and J Records divisions – though it shouldn’t affect anyone in the UK where J Record releases were already marketing through central BMG teams.
