Chicago successes at the Golden Globes

The film version of Chicago won several Golden Globes, with Renee Zellweger and Richard Gere taking acting prizes, and U2 winning best original song.

The movie version of the West End musical Chicago performed well at the Golden Globes last night. For some reason musicals are lumped in with comedies at the Golden Globes, which put the film up against some tough competition, but it still won through: Renee Zellweger taking best actress, Richard Gere best actors and the best musical/comedy movie overall.

Elsewhere on the musical side of things U2 took the award for best original song in a movie for ‘The Hands That Built America’ from ‘Gangs of New York’.
