CMU Track of the Year 2007

CMU readers continue voting for their 2007 track of the year, with early votes backing Gallows' 'In The Belly Of A Shark' and Madina Lake's 'House Of Cards'.

Yes, it's December everybody. Which means it is time for the CMU Track Of The Year thingimy thing - where the great and good that are the CMU Daily readership have the opportunity to big up the tracks that got them most excited in 2007.

If you haven't voted yet, there is still chance to get your votes in - you can pick a single, album track, b-side, bootleg, remix, demo, anything that first surfaced this year. You should email the name of your fave track and a couple of sentences on why it's great to [email protected].

Meanwhile, here's some votes already received...

Gallows - In The Belly Of A Shark

"The rise of Gallows has been the best thing in British music in 2007, this track is such a fantastically malevolent rock and roll song which has given both the rock scene and the industry a fresh burst of life. They are genuine punks and I would challenge any fan of rock music not to get exited when listening to this track at full volume".

Jamie Searle, X-taster

Madina Lake - House Of Cards

"I always send an email for this CMU end of year thingy and it's always chuffing hard. It's been a genius year for the damn young Cajun Dance Party ('Amylase' is excellent), Operator Please! (Aussie Rules!) and Silversun Pickups (a live delight). Biffy Clyro came back with their biggest stuff yet and laid down their bid to do the "New Bond Theme" ('Living Is A Problem Because Everyone Die's), then again so did Ian Brown ('Illegal Attacks') and I wouldn't say no to Siouxsie Sioux ('Here Comes That Day') either. Arctic Monkeys made a song that confused radio presenters everywhere (BRIANstorm...not Brainstorm!), Trent Reznor was brilliant as always (NIN-Survivalism), The Young Knives never really went away ('Terra Firma'), thank God, and the Manics did us proud ('Autumnsong'). But Nicky Wire, please keep the backing singing to a minimum. Top 3 though...Elvis Perkins 'All The Night Without Love', just utterly lush. Freemasons 'Uninvited', Phats and Smalls cover Alanis Morissette? It works. But my Track of The Year (finally, eh?) is Madina Lake's 'House Of Cards'. Utter brilliance from Chicagans on Roadrunner Records. If you haven't heard it, seek it out and listen on repeat".
