Coldcut (Matt Black and Jonathon More) claimed the Outstanding Contribution Award at the third annual Diesel-U-Music Awards at London's Fabric last Thursday. Isaac Hayes won the gong for Lifetime Achievement. On receiving the award Hayes said: "It's a cause close to my own heart, this is where it really matters the talent that's up and coming."
The U-Music event is primarily about new music – bands from across the country are encouraged to submit their music for consideration. On the night the best new dance act was named as drum & bass three-piece, Nebulae, who recently supported Goldie on tour. The Electronic Award went to Adrian Williams under his Midiman moniker for his sample littered hiphop shapes.
