Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace label announced it had re-signed a long term distribution deal with Universal's Island Def Jam Music Group yesterday, which presumably brings to an end rumours that had been circulating in recent days that the two companies were ending their working relationship because IDJ boss LA Reid had decided he no longer wanted to work with hip hop label.
The very same Mr Reid told AllHipHop.com yesterday: "The Atlanta hip hop scene and the Dirty South movement in general owe more than they can ever repay to Chris [ie Ludacris]. Our friendship stretches back more than a decade and I never cease to be amazed at his imagination, creativity, and most of all his outrageous sense of humor. Ludacris has built Disturbing Tha Peace into one of the iconic names in hip-hop, one that will remain an important part of the Island Def Jam family".
Reid did admit that Disturbing Tha Peace would be reviewing its roster in much the same way IDJ is reviewing its roster "to ensure that future opportunities and challenges are aggressively achieved" - whether that means a roster cull is upcoming I don't know.
