Fopp unsigned bands finalists play Bristol showcase

The six finalists of Fopp's unsigned bands search play a Bristol showcase to mark the release of their CDs in Fopp stores.

I think we mentioned the Fopp Unsigned Bands competition briefly when we were reporting on the National Student Music Awards last week, but we forgot to fill you in with all the news, so, here we go...

As previously reported, independent retailer Fopp last year launched a new unsigned bands competition, the prize of which was to get your music put on CD and sold in Fopp stores. The retailer is in it for the long haul and will be staging a band search every year for the next four years, each year concentrating on a different bit of the country.

Last year the search was based in the South West of England and South

Wales. This Thursday the six finalists of that search will all play at a special party in Bristol to mark the fact that their

CDs are now on sale at Fopp. The bands - The Barnaby Ray Quartet,

K-Diff Syndicate, The Room Orchestra, Angel Iles & Morris,

Tanya Walker and Psychic Spies - will all play at the showcase event at Bristol's The Metropol. The next stage of the Fopp band search will then kick off in Mar.
