Ienner adds CEO to Sony US role

Don Ienner has taken the title of CEO alongside his role as President of Sony Music Label Group US, placing him in charge of Sony's main US music divisions.

Veteran music exec Don Ienner has added the title of CEO to his existing role as President of Sony Music Label Group US. The expansion of his remit puts Ienner completely in charge of Sony's main American music divisions, including Columbia, Epic and Sony Music Nashville.

Announcing the appointment Sony BMG boss Andrew Lack told reporters: "The addition of the CEO title recognises Donnie's many contributions. From building Columbia Records Group into one of the most impressive organisations in the history of the music business, to successfully leading all of Sony Music's US labels, he has repeatedly proven himself to be a strong leader and a highly effective strategist."

As President of Sony Music Label Group, Ienner has helped bring a number of successful new artists to the company, has revitalised the Nashville labels through new artists like Gretchen Wilson, and was key in bringing Prince to the label.
