Imperial win well at student media awards

Imperial College's paper Felix won Newspaper Of The Year and student Rupert Neate was named Student Journalist Of The Year at the Guardian Student Media Awards.

Imperial College took the top two prizes at the previously reported Guardian Student Media Awards this week - their paper Felix won Newspaper Of The Year while Imperial student Rupert Neate was named Student Journalist Of The Year. Judges noted that Felix was "remorselessly campaigning with a sense of humour and significant news values".

Elsewhere, Felicity Hay from Sheffield University's Steel Press was named Reporter Of The Year and Warwick University's David O'Kelly won the Sports Reporter prize. Rohin Frances of St Georges, University of London, was named Diversity Writer Of The Year and Ben Lafferty of Oxford University's Cherwell won Critic Of The Year. Warwick Boar won Website Of The Year, Cardiff University's Quench won Magazine Of The Year, Goldsmith's Smiths won Design Of The Year and UCL's magazine Cheese Grater won the Small-budget Publication Of The Year gong.

All the winners were presented with their prizes by Xfm's Lauren Laverne at an awards bash in London on Wednesday night. As previously reported, the NUS's student media awards take place on 24 Nov. The Student Radio Association presented their annual student radio awards last night - we should have a winners list for you next week.
